BIOGRAPHY – JOHNSON OJUADE ADETUNJI

Elder Johnson Ojuade Adetunji was born on Sunday 20th of June, 1934. His father, late Pa Samuel 


Adeboje Adetunji was one of the early pioneers of Christianity in Gbongan and was also one of the 


11 founding members of the St Paul’s Anglican Church, Gbongan which was founded on January 20, 


1910. His mother, late Madam Asabi Adetunji was a Christian from youth and a member of St Paul’s 


Anglican Church, Gbongan.




Pa Johnson Ojuade Adetunji was a realistic and devoted Christian to the core and was baptised in


1939 by Reverend A.A Omideyi. Elder Ojuade commenced his elementary education at St.Paul’s 


Central School Gbongan from January, 1942 till 1950 thereafter followed his Uncle, Mr Obadiah 


Adeyemi to St. John’s School Iloro, Ilesa. He left St. John’s Iloro, Ilesa when he could no longer 


stay with his Uncle. He later attended St. Mark’s school Offa in Kwara State where he eventually 


completed his standard six education in December 1954. He returned to Gbongan in January 


1955 where he was engaged as a primary school teacher at St David’s Anglican school, Akiriboto 


till May 1955 when he gained admission to Ibadan Provincial Grade Two teacher Training College 


as a pioneer of the college. He also got confirmed on the 20th November 1955 by Late Bishop 


Phillips at the All St Church Osogbo. He completed his four year teacher training in December 1959. 


He was retained in the college as a Physical Education Instructor. He later worked as a teacher in local 


Authority modern school, Isale Aro Osogbo till March 1960 then resigned to further education in the 


United Kingdom.




Pa Johnson Ojuade Adetunji got married to Miss Gladys Moyosore Fatoye of Ile-Osa Gbongan in 1967. 


The marriage was blessed with God fearing children and grandchildren.




When he returned from Great Britain in 1973, he joined Bright Morning Stars of St Paul's Church 


Cathedral Gbongan. He worked with Punch Newspapers Lagos in the Finance Department. 




He served the Federal Government of  Nigeria as a civil servant at National Cereals Research Institute,


 Apata Ibadan and Bida, Niger state. He also worked at the Federal Ministry of Finance - Budget office 


 in Lagos and Abuja as an Assistant Director where he finally retired.
